Patriot’s Pen

The Patriot’s Pen program is a VFW essay competition that allows middle school students (grades 6-8) to express their views on patriotism. VFW Post 2148 proudly supports this program, which helps young Americans explore and communicate their thoughts on the values that define our country.

Students submit a written essay on an assigned patriotic theme each year, with opportunities to win scholarships and prizes at Post, District, State, and National levels.

How VFW Post 2148 Supports Patriot’s Pen

  • Community Outreach: We promote the Patriot’s Pen program in local schools and organizations, encouraging students to participate and explore the theme of the year.
  • Scholarship Opportunities: Winners at our Post can advance to higher levels, earning additional scholarships for their educational goals.

The Impact of Patriot’s Pen

Patriot’s Pen allows young students to reflect on patriotism and its significance in their lives. By participating, students gain a deeper understanding of American values while developing their writing and critical thinking skills.
